Prakash Jha's political drama "Satyagraha" has shown a good jump in its collections on its second day of theatrical run in India. The political drama featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan has raked in a total of ₹24.29 crore till now.
"#Satyagraha Fri 11.21 cr, Sat 13.08 cr. Total: ₹24.29 cr. Good jump on Day 2," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"#Satyagraha is rocking Patna. Early morning show [7.30 am] introduced from Sat at Regent, Patna. Goes 100%. In fact, all 6 shows full," he added.
The latest political drama, based on a fight between the middle-class population and the corrupt government, is targeted mostly towards youth and family audiences. After registering a good occupancy on day one, the film showed a good jump on the second day.
"Satyagraha", which had a solo release, became Jha's biggest opener ever. The film was released in 2,700 screens in India. It is now affecting previous releases "Chennai Express" and "Madras Cafe" at the box office.
The film which has been hailed by critics also features Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpai and Amrita Rao in lead roles. Positive word of mouth seems to be helping the film's business in India as well as in overseas markets.
In the UAE-GCC circuit, the collections were much higher than Jha's 2010 release "Raajneeti". The film raked in a total of ₹1.87 crore from the region. It fetched ₹78.85 lakh from the US and ₹32 lakh from the UK.

Taking note of the box office trend, the film is expected make a business of around ₹40 crore in its opening weekend.
