Tamil star Dhanush's Hindi debut "Raanjhanaa" has opened to a good start at the domestic box office.
"Raanjhanaa" had an ordinary start on the first day of its release (21 June), but it witnessed a steady increase in collections in the last two days. The film did well in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh circuits and also witnessed favourable growth in every circuit over the weekend, according to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
The film's collections stand at around ₹20.08 crore at the end of the opening weekend. "#Raanjhanaa collected approx Rs 20.08 cr nett in its opening weekend. Breakup:- Fri 5.12 cr, Sat 6.81 cr, Sun *est* 8.15 cr," Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Raanjhanaa" has won the hearts of film critics as well as film buffs, who have appreciated the work of the lead actors. The film's main cast including Dhanush, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub has won accolades for their wonderful performances. Abhay Deol in a cameo role also looks apt for his role.
South male actors have not been able to achieve great success in Bollywood so far. Before "Raanjhanaa's" release, speculations were rife on whether Dhanush would be able to break the south Indian jinx. The release of "Raanjhanaa" could change that. The talented actor has been getting rave reviews for his performance not just from the audience, but also from members of the Hindi film fraternity including Ranbir Kapoor, Farah Khan, Sridevi and Aamir Khan.
Interestingly, Dhanush has already grabbed his second project in Hindi. The "Kolaveri Di" star is all set to team up once again with "Raanjhanaa" director Anand L Rai for a bilingual, which is expected to go on floors next year.
