Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D'cruz starrer "Phata Poster Nikla Hero" has slowed down drastically at box office, earning ₹29.50 crore in six days, which is barely good enough for the makers.
The box office earning of action comedy film "PPNH" was down by nearly 30 percent in its first week itself.
"#PPNH Fri ₹ 6 cr, Sat ₹ 7 cr, Sun ₹ 8.25 cr, Mon ₹ 3.15 cr, Tue ₹ 2.75 cr, Wed ₹ 2.35 cr. Total: ₹ 29.50 cr," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film, which opened with average earnings, might rake in its production cost of 40 crore by end of second week and become a moderate hit at box office.
But Rajkumar Santoshi's directorial film "PPNH" box office performance is not as good as expected. The second film "The Lunchbox" which was released alongside "PPNH" is presently leading the box office race in India.
Ritesh Batra's romantic film has maintained a steady position in Indian markets, making it a winner at box office this week. The earnings on the first three days of the weekday were in the range of around 1 crore. The total of Irrfan Khan and Nimrat Kaur starrer now stands at ₹10.56 crore.
"#TheLunchbox Fri ₹ 1.25 cr, Sat ₹ 2.60 cr, Sun ₹ 3.25 cr, Mon ₹ 1.19 cr, Tue ₹ 1.15 cr, Wed ₹ 1.12. Total: ₹ 10.56 cr. Rock-steady!" Adarsh tweeted.
The impressive box office earning of "The Lunchbox" has made filmmakers happy. Director Anubhav Sinha, while speaking at a panel discussion on Friday, said, "Why are we worried that Grand Masti has collected over Rs. 50 crore in a week? Should we not welcome the fact that the audience is also accepting films like The Lunchbox? With a limited screening, the movie has collected Rs. 1.25 crore on day one."
