Indo- Brazilian Model Nathalia Kaur, who is making her Bollywood debut in director Ram Gopal Varma's upcoming film "Department," feels there is nothing wrong in doing an item number.
"People might criticize and label you, but there is nothing wrong in doing an item number. Some people like doing the song and dance and not want to act, so what is wrong with that? Besides the Indian audience is intelligent and know what they want," The Times of India quoted as Nathalia saying.
Speaking to the daily about her debut appearance, Nathalia said she was very happy when her song "Dan Dan Cheeni" in the movie was released.
She also said she is getting good reviews from people who have seen the song and added, "I don't care what people think about me. My song is not an awkwardly placed item number, but an integral part of the story.
Meanwhile, the actress has been getting compliments from Ram Gopal himself after the release of the song.
"Her beauty is truly electrifying and it just sparks out from every nook and curve of both her face and her body," Ram Gopal commented about Nathalia on his Facebook page.
He also added, "Her face looks so classically beautiful and her body literally looks like the perfect embodiment of an ultimate female figure. This combined with her ability on cue to give any expression that is asked of her is what I think will happen in only once in a decade and in this decade I think Nathalia is that girl."
He also wrote that Nathalia doing the "Dan Dan" song was the sheer good fortune of "Department".
After "Department," the 21-year-old winner of the Kingfisher Calendar Girl 2012, will be seen playing a lead role in another Ram Gopal's upcoming film "Andam."
"Department" starring Sanjay Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan and Rana Daggubati will be out in theatres on May 18.
