The makers of the super hit "Munna Bhai" series have decided to wait for Sanjay Dutt's completition oh his jail term to rope him in for the third installment film, reported IANS.
Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajkumar Hirani released a joint statement declaring that "Munna Bhai 3" will go on floors only when Sanjay Dutt comes out of his jail term.
Sanjay played the role of a gangster with a heart of gold in the successful movie franchisee.
"The reel 'Munna Bhai' will wait for the real Munna Bhai. He will indeed walk on the sets of the next 'Munna Bhai' as he comes back to us free," the joint statement read.
"Just two days back Sanjay Dutt called and said, 'Its tough to be in prison but I'm ready to go there because when I come back... I will experience freedom in its true sense. I will be rid of this monkey who has been sitting on my back for the last twenty years and scaring me. When I walk out of Prison, I want to walk straight onto the sets of Munnabha."
The producer director duo also said, "In our understanding, jails exist to reform people who have erred, not to wreak vengeance upon them. The Sanjay that we know is fully reformed and a responsible citizen."
"We believe that it would not be wrong at all to take into consideration the demonstrably reformed self of this man. To show leniency towards such a citizen upholds the spirit of justice and does not in any way undermine it,"
Sanjay Dutt, who was given a five-year sentence for illegal arms possession in the 1992 Bombay bomb blasts case, will have to serve three and half years behind bars since he has already spent 18 months before.
