Hollywood actor Tom Cruise came to India to promote his latest offering "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," the fourth sequel to Mission Impossible series.
Trade pandits might be a little skeptic in spite of the presence of Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor in a cameo role; the reason is that Hollywood films usually find it difficult to penetrate into Indian market. However, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" is likely to do well at the box office as it has received good reviews from the Indian film critics.
Film critic Rashid Irani described Mission: Impossible 4 as an enjoyable popcorn matinee. "After a hiatus of five years, super-spy Ethan Hunt, who kayoed the global box office in three movies, has chosen to accept a new assignment. And it's reassuring to see that Tom Cruise is still fighting fit for the fourth installment of the Mission: Impossible series," he wrote. "In sum, 'Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol' makes for a fairly enjoyable popcorn matinee," he added.
The movie is a terrific thriller with action sequences that function as a kind of action poetry. The best one has Tom Cruise hanging more than 100 storeys up on the glass windows of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world's tallest building," wrote Roger Ebert in his review.
Dabiel Pinto is all praise for lead actor Tom Cruise for the breath-taking stunts in spite of his age.
"The heart-stopping infiltrations, devious impersonations and ingenious gadgets are back with Impossible Missions Force agent Ethan Hunt busting out from a Moscow jail to assemble a team to infiltrate the Moscow Kremlin," he wrote in his review.
"Ghost Protocol breathes new life into the franchise and piques the interest with an expert touch throughout. This is one sequel not to be disavowed by fans," he added.
Directed by Brad Bird, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" is an action thriller featuring Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Paula Patton in the lead roles. It was released worldwide Dec. 16.
