John Abraham's latest release "Madras Cafe" is getting good response from moviegoers in India. The spy thriller, which created controversy in Tamil Nadu and in London, has shown an upward trend at the box office on the second day of its release.
The film witnessed a 20-25 percent increase in business on Saturday. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, it has earned around ₹7 crore on the second day of its release from the domestic box office, taking the total to ₹12.17 crore.
The Indian political espionage thriller directed by Shoojit Sircar is getting good response from both single screens and multiplexes.
"#MadrasCafe Fri ₹5.17 cr, Sat trends suggest around ₹7 cr. May even cross ₹7 cr. Biz on the rise and how. Power of strong word of mouth! #MadrasCafe is zooming upwards. Not just plexes of urban centres, even single screens/mass circuits have witnessed an upswing in biz. WOW!" Adarsh tweeted.
Despite limited screens and facing problem in Tamil Nadu, the film is doing pretty well in terms of collection. Word of mouth from critics and audiences as well as good reviews have worked in favour of the film.
The film, which also stars Nargis Fakri, had seen a huge jump in circuits like Mumbai, Delhi, UP, East Punjab, West Bengal and Mysore.
On the overseas front, the film opened to a good start. It raked in ₹39.27 lakh from USA-Canada and ₹1.21 crore from UAE-GCC markets.
"MadrasCafe shows big jump in biz in UAE & GCC. Thu + Fri AED 700,000 [₹1.21 cr] on 30 screens. Super. USA-Canada Fri $ 62,000 [₹39.27 lacs] from 45 sites. Should cross $ 200,000 in its opening weekend, as per trends," Adarsh added.
