A new theatrical trailer of Oscar award-winning director Ang Lee's first 3D movie, "Life Of Pi", has been released. The first trailer featured only young Pi, played by Suraj Sharma, while the second trailer gave a glimpse of international star Irrfan Khan and Bollywood actress Tabu.

While Tabu has a blink-and-you-miss-it role in the film, Irrfan takes on the role of an older Pi. The two minute and 31 second video shows a vibrant Pondicherry and Munnar in the background where the film was extensively shot.

"'Life Of Pi' is going to be an exceptional film. It is based on a very intelligent book. It was very difficult to adapt it into a film but the director did a fantastic job with it. It is Ang's first 3D film and I am sure people are going to like it. With this film he has done something extraordinary," Press Trust of India quoted Irrfan as saying on the sidelines of Osian's film festival.

"I never had any hopes for that role. I was not expecting anything. I enjoyed working with the director and I am happy that the film is doing so well," he added.

The movie, which is based on the 2001 fantasy adventure novel of the same name by Yann Martel, tells the story of a 16-year-old Indian boy from Pondicherry and his unbelievable survival at sea against impossible odds.

The first trailer focused only on young Pi, while the second trailer gave a hint about the plot and its characters.

Lee signed Suraj for the film when he was 16 years old and after three years of shooting the film was complete. "Being a part of the film has been a life-changing experience," IANS quoted Suraj as saying.

"It has really changed me and how I perceive the entire world in many ways. People say that I have grown up personally after this film. Like, I went there as a 16-year-old boy. Now, sometimes I feel like I am 40 years old and my perception about the world has changed completely," he added.

"Earlier, I used to live in my own little shell and everything was small. Now I have realised that the world is this open place with opportunities. Now I know how to deal with situations in a better way and I can work five times harder without it affecting me because I have already worked like that. I've just become more ready for things," Suraj said.

The movie also features Shravanthi Sainath as Pi's Girlfriend, Adil Hussain as Pi's father and Rafe Spall as Yann Martel. Earlier, Yann Martel's character was played by Tobey Maguire, but Lee later replaced him with Spall.

Irrfan's seven-year-old son Ayan Khan is also roped on board the movie and will have a cameo appearance, Bollywood Hungama reported.

The film will hit Indian theatres on Nov 21 ahead of it worldwide release in December.
