Diwali release superhero flick "Krrish 3" has successfully completed its second week with ₹226 crore earnings. Maintaining steady pace during the second week, the film has managed to mint in a whopping ₹59.48 crore.
The second week total of "Krrish 3" is much higher than "Chennai Express" two weeks total.
"Chennai Express" had minted 43.85 crore, while "Krrish 3" two-week total is ₹59.48 crore.
The superhero film now requires an additional 1 crore to break "Chennai Express" lifetime business of ₹227 crore.
The second week breakup of the film is: Friday ₹9.16 crore, Saturday ₹14.23 crore, Sunday ₹16.35 crore, Monday ₹5.47 crore, Tuesday ₹5.04 crore, Wednesday ₹4.46 crore and Thursday ₹4.77 crore, according to Bollywood Hungama.
Thursday's recorded slight increase in its collection due to Children's Day holiday across the country.
The collection is expected to drop on Friday due to the release of "Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-leela" and "Rajjo".
Kangana Ranaut's "Rajjo" would not make much impact on "Krrish 3", but Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh starrer "Ram-leela" might bring down the collection.
The morning shows of "Ram-leela" have opened to packed houses in some circuits in India and the film has also received rave reviews from critics.
But "Krrish 3" would definitely beat "Chennai Express" record and take the top position at the box office by third Friday (15 November).
Meanwhile, apart from domestic and overseas box office, the "Krrish 3" merchandise is also doing well.
The "Krrish 3" merchandise including Krrish, Kaal and Kaya figures, masks, wrist brands and other items have become very popular among kids.
"While we expected the film to do well, the merchandise doing well is a bonus," Hrithik said according to The Times of India.
