The next episode of Karan Johar's chat show "Koffee with Karan" season 4 will briefly witness Anil Kapoor in a defensive stance as he offers a veiled threat to Ranbir Kapoor.
The "Slumdog Millionaire" actor appears to be in his characteristic cool self in the upcoming episode as he is seen chatting away pleasantly with daughter and fellow guest Sonam Kapoor and host Johar.
However, Anil's protective father image surfaces at one point when Johar asks: "One person who should never think of dating Sonam?"; a question to which Anil replies straight out: "Ranbir Kapoor".
While Sonam was seen laughing at her father's crisp response, we think Anil's remark is a direct response to a previous fiasco, where Rishi Kapoor had lashed out at Sonam for her unfavourable comments on Ranbir in the last season.
With the curt response, it appears the 57-year-old is clearly displeased with the incident and evidently wants Ranbir to keep a safe distance from his daughter. Also given Ranbir's well known flirtatious and commitment phobic demeanour, Anil's concern appears quite valid.
Interestingly, both Sonam and Ranbir debuted together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's epic dud "Saawariya" (2007) but have not worked together since. And with Anil expressing his inhibition, it is quite unlikely that the duo would pair up onscreen in the near future.
Meanwhile, the "Raanjhanaa" actress was in her outspoken best as she exposed the myths that the film industry has with respect to an actor's physical appearance.
"(In) the industry, if you are not good looking they think you are a good actor," said Sonam bluntly and added that being in the critics' good books has worked in her favour till now.
However, the actress had a dumb moment when she goofed up, naively answering that the iconic quote by Mahatma Gandhi - "An eye for an eye makes the world blind" - was said by Hollywood actor Robert De Niro.
