Shah Rukh Khan's latest movie "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" crossed the ₹100-mark in just five days while Aamir Khan-starrer "Talaash" did the same in its first week of release. Now, all eyes are on Akshay Kumar's newly-released "Khiladi 786" on whether it will cross the figure in a week's time.
"Khiladi 786" marks the comeback of action king Akshay Kumar as the "Khiladi" after a gap of 12 years. The movie, which also features Asin Thottumkal in the female lead, was released on Dec 7 across 2,786 screens in India.
"Khiladi 786" collected over ₹10 crore on the opening day and ₹11 crore on the second day, taking the two-day collection from domestic box office to over ₹20 crore", tweeted trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
The film didn't go well at the overseas box office though. It earned ₹38.29 lakh ($70,300) from 114 locations in the USA on Friday and ₹58.99 lakh (£67,537) from 78 locations in the UK on Friday and Saturday, according to Adarsh.
Meanwhile, "Talaash" raked in ₹13.5 crore on the opening day and ₹15.5 crore on the second day. "Jab Tak Hai Jaan", which was released across 2,500 screens worldwide during Diwali, collected ₹15.23 crore on the opening day.
"Khiladi 786" is Akshay Kumar's fifth release of the year after "Housefull 2," "Rowdy Rathore," "Joker" and "OMG: Oh My God!". Directed by Ashish R Mohan, it is the eighth installment of the "Khiladi" series.
