The Amitabh Bachchan-hosted "Kaun Banega Crorepati," which opened Aug. 15, scored lower ratings in its first week than in the previous season.
It opened with 5.24 points Aug. 15 and averaged at 4.54 points compared with 6.2 points for the opening episode on Bachchan's birthday Oct. 11, 2010, and 5.3 average for the week. The findings were based on numbers collected in the top three metros -- Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.
But TAM India, the agency that issues TRPs for TV shows, said the show still tops the TV reality shows hosted by Bollywood heroes. In fact, the show has pushed Sony (SET) channel into the top slot ahead of Star TV, which used to host the show earlier.
"KBC has given us a good start and all other shows are showing growth. We have the plan for the next six months ready," said Sony Channel executive Sneha Rajani.
Incidentally, Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan's co-star in "Sholay" and host of "India's Got Talent," stands second, followed by Hrithik Roshan (Just Dance), Preity Zinta (Guinness World Record - Ab India Todega) and Akshay Kumar (Khatron Ke Khiladi Torchaar).
Shah Rukh Khan's "Zor Ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout" and Mallika Sherawat's "Chak Dhoom Dhoom 2" turned out to be non-performermers on the small screen.
