Fans of Ajith and Vijay are eagerly waiting to see their screen idols clash at the box office on Pongal next year. But apparently, there may not be any clash after all.
Earlier reports had suggested that Vijay's "Jilla" is heading for a big showndown with Ajith's "Veeram" during the harvest festival in 2014. But the latest we hear is that "Jilla" could have a February release.
The shooting of "Jilla" is progressing at a brisk pace with Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles. After the super success of "Thuppakki", Kajal has teamed up with Vijay for the second time. Mohanlal, Poornima Bhagyaraj and Mahat Raghavendra appear in pivotal roles. Director-turned-actor Ravi Mariya plays the main villain role in "Jilla".
"Jilla" is directed by debutant RT Nesan and produced by RB Choudary under his banner Super Good Films. The film's music is composed by Imman.
Vijay fans would be disappointed to hear that "Jilla" will not be clashing with "Veeram", a rural subject directed by "Siruthai" Siva. "Veeram" boasts of a multi-star cast including Ajith, Tamannah, Vidharth, Vidyulekha Raman, Santhanam, Ramesh Kanna and Pradeep Rawat.
In the past, films featuring Vijay and Ajith have clashed at the box office. The last time their films clashed was in 2007, when Ajith's "Alwar" and Vijay's "Pokkiri" released for Pongal. While "Pokkiri" was a massive hit, "Alwar" failed to set the cash registers ringing.
Their other films have clashed at the box office in 2002, 2003 and 2006.
In 2002 - Vijay's Bhagavathi Vs Ajith's "Villain"
In 2003 - Vijay's "Thirumalai" Vs Ajith's "Anjaneya"
In 2006 - Vijay's "Aadhi" Vs Ajith's "Paramasivam"
