"Jab Tak Hai Jaan," starring Shah Rukh Khan, is doing great at the box office - both domestic and overseas. But it may not be able to break the record of the Salman Khan starrer "Ek Tha Tiger."
"Jab Tak Hai Jaan," featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, was released in about 2,500 screens worldwide on Tuesday, on Diwali, and has crossed ₹100 crore mark at the box office.
"#JTHJ [2nd Week] Fri 2.75 cr, Sat 3.62 cr, Sun 4.66 cr. Total: Rs 109.44 cr nett. Note: India business only," tweeted trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh on Saturday.
The worldwide box office collection of "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" in 10 days was ₹150.41 crore. It raked in ₹98.41 crore from domestic box office and ₹52 crore from overseas.
However, "Ek Tha Tiger," starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, earned ₹154.21 crore at the domestic box office in the nine-day-extended first week. It earned ₹185 in two weeks from Indian box office alone and the over all collection was ₹307 crore.
"Jab Tak Hai Jaan" has the potential to rake in more revenue, but if the last weekend collections (₹2.75 on Friday, ₹3.62 crore on Saturday, ₹4.66 crore on Sunday) from the domestic box office are any indication, the film is unlikely to beat "Ek Tha Tiger."
"Jab Tak Hai Jaan" is Katrina's first film with King Khan since she entered Bollywood in 2003 with "Boom."
Produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, this romantic film marks the return of Yash Chopra as a director after a gap of eight years. The director passed away last month, just a few weeks before the film's release.
