Vikram Prabhu's "Ivan Vera Mathiri" ("He is different") is all set for a massive release in Indian and overseas markets.
"Ivan Vera Mathiri", produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Thirupathi Brothers, will release in over 500 screens worldwide. Entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai tweeted, "#IvanVeraMaathiri - Releasing Dec 13 in large number of screens. TN =323 + Karnataka =40 + Kerala = 36 + Overseas = 102. Total = 501. Phew!"
The film will have a solo release in Tamil Nadu. The Telugu version of the film, titled "Citizen", will hit screens simultaneously with the Tamil version.
"Ivan Vera Mathiri" is directed by Saravanan of "Engeyum Eppodhum" fame. This is the second film for both the director and the lead actor, Vikram Prabhu. Vikram, son of actor Prabhu and grandson of thespian Sivaji Ganesan, made his acting debut with "Kumki". The film, directed by Prabhu Solomon, was one of the biggest hits of 2012. Vikram's performance as a mahout was widely appreciated.
Expectations are high for "Ivan Vera Mathiri" as the director and actor's first release have done well at the box office. Their upcoming film, set in an urban backdrop, will have Vikram in the role of a visual communication student. "I play a viscom student named Gunasekaran. He applies for a job. The story is about what happens when certain incidents take over his life. As the title suggests, he does things differently," Vikram told The New Indian Express. The actor revealed that he will have fewer dialogues in the film and will perform mostly with expressions and actions.
New Delhi-based Surabhi is making her Kollywood debut as the female lead in "Ivan Vera Mathiri". The actress plays a sweet college girl with strong family ties. The romantic thriller also has Ganesh Venkatraman, Vamsi Krishna and Hariraj in pivotal roles.
The film's music is composed by Sathya and there are six tracks in the film which have been well received by the audience.
Since "Ivan Vera Mathiri" gets a solo big release, the film is expected to take a good opening at the box office. However, it has just about seven days to rake in good revenue as a few biggies are releasing on 20 December to cash in on Christmas holidays.
The Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions of Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3" are releasing on 20 December. Although there are no big Telugu releases, some Tamil films including "Endrendrum Punnagai" and "Biriyani" will also hit theatres around the same time. One needs to wait a little longer to find out whether the new releases will affect the collections of "Ivan Vera Mathiri" after its first week of theatrical run.
