Marvel's new venture "Iron Man 3" has released its second trailer. The superhero franchise will succeed worldwide blockbuster "Avengers", released last year.
The second trailer of the superhero flick released offers a virtual delight with a shift from gloom (as in the first trailer) to panic, showing the insomniac Tony Stark, his destroyed sea-facing house to explosions (in the US Air Force One) to a line of armour followed by the big one breaking through tough structures, the "Hulkbuster armour" familiar to comic book fans.
The trailer doesn't show any of Stark's trademark witty one-liners, but the menacing threat of Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) echoing, "You don't know who I am. You'll never see me coming."
Our billionaire superhero replies, "You're not a man. You're nothing more than a maniac. I'm not afraid of you. No politics here: just good old fashioned revenge."
But the best we believe is Mandarin's menacing dialogue: "Mr. Stark, today is the first day of what's left of your life," followed by "I'm going to offer the choice: do you want an empty life, or a meaningful death?"
Rock solid as Stark's girl, Gwyneth Paltrow appears shaken in the limited frame. Don Cheadle returns as the best buddy suited up and flashing the American-coloured armour and our Tony drops the sweet talk for a serious superhero look.
What's also interesting is Shane Black taking over the reins from previous director, Jon Favreau, in the third installment of the series.
Our verdict; a crisp, explosive, arresting trailer with sleek visual effects clearly meant to bowl you over!
