Arya-Anushka's "Irandam Ulagam" has opened to a good start at the Chennai box office.
The fantasy thriller rules the Chennai box office, pushing "Arrambam" to the second spot, according to senior film journalist Sreedhar Pillai.
Chennai Box Office (22-24 November)

2. Arrambam
3. Pandiya Nadu
4. Ram-leela
5. Pizza 2
"Irandam Ulagam" has earned around ₹2.41 crore in its opening weekend in Chennai. The film witnessed average theatre occupancy of 89 percent during the first weekend, reported Behindwoods.
According to Andhraboxoffice, "Irandam Ulagam" is estimated to have earned ₹6.5-₹7 crore in Tamil Nadu.
The film opened with a lot of expectations, thanks to Selvaraghavan who is known for his unique story-telling in his projects. The director, who had been appreciated for making romantic films such as "Kadhal Kondein", "7G Rainbow Colony" and "Mayakkam Enna", has once again come out with a love saga - "Irandam Ulagam".
The film revolves around two love stories set in parallel worlds - the real world and a fantasy realm. The Arya starrer received mixed reviews upon release from critics who claimed that the film is a visual treat for the audience, but lacks clarity on the narration.
The average reviews from critics might affect the business of "Irandam Ulagam." Negative word of mouth might hamper the film's collections in the coming days.
The film had a simultaneous release in Telugu along with the Tamil version. The Telugu version titled "Varna" had a decent opening on the first day of its release. But negative buzz seems to have affected the film's collections on Saturday and Sunday. Still, the film had a decent opening weekend and takes the top slot at the Andhra box office, dominating over "Masala", "Ram-leela and "Pizza 2:Villa".
