Actor Nagarjuna's film "Greeku Veerudu" has made a good start at the US box office.
"Greeku Veerudu" has fetched ₹92.54 lakh from 49 screens during the weekend. The film's earnings have broken the collections of Nagarjuna's previous flicks including "Damarukam" and "Shirdi Sai". While "Damarukam" and "Shirdi Sai" fetched $1,08,882 (20 screens) and $1,70,958 (45 screens), respectively, Nag's recently released "Greeku Veerudu" minted ₹92.54 lakh in just three days of its release.
"Telugu film #GreekuVeerudu fetches a fairly good start in USA. Collects $ 171,075 [₹92.54 lacs] on 49 screens," Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
In the first two days of its release including the preview, "Greeku Veerudu" fetched ₹42.02 lakh ($ 78,091). On Saturday, the movie collected around ₹30 lakh ($ 55,995) from about 49 locations. Including Sunday's collections, the total amount grossed to nearly ₹1 crore.
"Greeku Veerudu" has the second highest box office collection in the US, next to John Abraham starrer "Shootout at Wadala" which raked in $ 208,000 (₹1.13 crore). Despite getting mixed reviews from film critics, "Greeku Veerudu" has managed to make a good start and do better business overseas.
The film is a family subject that deals with emotions, love and relationships. Directed by Dasaradh, "Greeku Veerudu" has Nayantara teaming up with Nag after a span of nearly seven years when their last film "Boss" was released.
Apart from the lead pair, the film's star cast includes Meera Chopra, K Vishwanath, Brahmanandam, Kota Srinivasa Rao and Ashish Vidyarthi. Nagarajuna's performance has won accolades from film critics. The 56-year-old actor looks ageless on screen. Comedians M S Narayana and Brahmanandam have managed to evoke laughter in some scenes.
