Adult comedy "Grand Masti" is racing towards the ₹100 crore club at the domestic box office. Indra Kumar'a directorial accumulated ₹90.3 in 15 days from collection centres in India.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "Grand Masti" raked in ₹67.40 crore during its first week of release, ₹21.65 crore in the second week and ₹1.25 crore on third Friday from the domestic box office.
New releases "Phata Poster Nikla Hero" and "The Lunchbox" did not affect the adult comedy at theatres in India. Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh and VivekOberoi starrer requires ₹10 crore more to touch the elite ₹100 crore club, which seems possible as no big films have released this week.
The film enjoyed its two weeks run, but the coming week will be crucial for "Grand Masti" due to the release of Ranbir Kapoor's "Besharam".
Once "Besharam" is released in India, it might be hard for "Grand Masti" to reach the ₹100 crore mark as its screen count will be brought down. "Besharam" will be released in more than 3600 screens across the country, making it one of the biggest releases in the history of Indian cinema.
If successful to keep up the craze within the Indian audience, "Grand Masti" will become the fifth film released in 2013 to gross ₹100 crore.
The first four films which made it to the century club are: "Race 2", "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" and "Chennai Express".
While Riteish has already join the elite club with his 2012 "Housefull 2", Vivek and Aftab will be the new comers.
