Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3" continues its dream run at the Indian as well International box office.
"Dhoom 3" has earned ₹227.83 crore at the Indian box office and has surpassed "Chennai Express" lifetime figures (India), which stand at ₹227.13 crore. [Note the "Chennai Express" figure is referred from Bollywood Hungama]
"#Dhoom3 [Wknd 2]: Hindi ₹ 37.69 cr, Tamil & Telugu ₹ 1.16 cr. Total: Hindi ₹ 216.66 cr, Tamil & Telugu ₹ 11.17 cr. Grand total: ₹ 227.83 cr," film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The Aamir starrer is racing towards the ₹300-crore mark and is likely to achieve it in the next few weeks considering there are no Hindi films of big stars releasing until 24 January, when Salman Khan's "Jai Ho" arrives in theatres. If "Dhoom 3" sets a new bench-mark by entering into the 300-crore club, then Aamir will achieve a rare feat of having started the ₹100 crore, ₹200 crore and ₹300 crore clubs.
The film has already shattered the lifetime figures (India) of Aamir's 2009-release "3 Idiots." "Dhoom 3" is now the second highest grossing Bollywood film next to "Krrish 3." The action thriller flick is expected to surpass "Krrish 3" lifetime figures and emerge as the highest grosser soon.
"Dhoom 3", which released on 20 December as a special Christmas treat to fans, has performed better than other Christmas releases in the last few years.
