Salman Khan's film entering ₹100 crore club is no more news as most of his recent films crossed the century mark. The real challenge for him is entering the coveted ₹200 crore club.
The 47-year-old actor, who is leading the 100-crore elite club with four films, is on the verge of leading ₹200-crore club too with his his latest release "Dabangg 2" doing brisk business at the box office.
Salman and Sonakshi Sinha starrer "Dabangg 2", which was released on Dec. 21, is still dominating domestic as well as overseas box offices.
Arbaaz Khan's debut directorial movie entered the century club within a week of its release by collecting ₹106.78 crore in just seven days in India. But collection of the film declined considerably in the second week because of some factors.
The movie opened to a tremendous response, especially in north, but cold wave in north India has affected the business of the movie a lot. The anti-rape protest across the country and ongoing Indo-Pak series also affected the business.
"Dabangg 2 has performed extremely well at the BO, but if certain external factors had favoured it better, the film would have been on a different level by now. The Indo-Pak cricket series and all the news about the heinous Delhi gang-rape grabbed the attention of the country (and justifiably so), keeping a lot of people from going to the cinemas," distributor Akshaye Rathi told Mid-Day.
In its second week, the movie collected ₹33 crore (five day total) in India. According to industry source, second week is not in the favour of Salman as much as they were expecting.
Looking at the pace of collection, trade analysts feels that only miracle can make "Dabangg 2" to surpass the 200 crore club.
