Action comedy film "Dabangg 2" is riding high at the ticket collection window in India. The movie is still in its first week and has already surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office.
"Dabangg 2" has become Salman's fifth film to enter the Rs 100 crore club after "Ek Tha Tiger", "Bodyguard", "Dabangg" and "Ready".
On Wednesday, the movie, which also stara Sonakshi Sinha in the female lead role, earned Rs 8.12 crore in India, taking the overall 6-day total to Rs 100.78 crore. Despite being a working day, it had great earnings on its sixth day of release in India.
"#Dabangg2 Fri 21.10 cr, Sat 19.06 cr, Sun 25 cr, Mon 12 cr, Tue 15.5 cr, Wed 8.12 cr. Total: Rs 100.78 cr nett. 100 cr crossed in 6 days!" trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Dabangg 2" has become the second fastest movie in Bollywood to touch the Rs 100 crore mark, the first being Salman's previous release "Ek Tha Tiger".
Salman has the highest number of films which entered the elite club, followed by Ajay Devg with four movies, Shahrukh Khan with three, two of each from Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar, according to Koimoi.com.
Both his movies "ETT" and "Dabangg 2" were released in several more screens as compared to others films.
"Dabangg 2" was released on Dec 21 across 3,500 screens in India and 450 screens at overseas, while "ETT" was released across 3300 screens in India and 550 screens abroad.
The movie is a sequel to 2010 blockbuster "Dabangg" and features Vinod Khanna, Arbaaz Khan, Prakash Raj, Deepak Dobriyal, Sandeepa Dhar and Nikitan Dheer in supporting roles.
