Action comedy film "Dabangg 2" had a good start at the box office, but its second weekend collections went downhill.
The Salman Khan starrer is going rock steady at the overseas box office. It raked in ₹166.27 crore from India and International markets.
Considering the hype around the movie and Salman's star status, it was expected that the movie would earn good collections in its second weekend.
In its opening weekend, the movie collected over ₹65 crore in India, while in its second weekend it raked in ₹21 crore. The business was affected mainly because of bad weather conditions, India-Pakistan cricket series and the anti-rape protests across the country.
The domestic total of the film, which also stars Sonakshi Sinha in the lead role, now stands at ₹127.78 crore.
"#Dabangg2 collected approx ₹21 cr nett in Weekend 2. The 10-day total stands at approx ₹ 127.78 cr nett," trade analsy and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
On the other hand, the movie is going strong in the international market. With no new releases, the movie is enjoying its monopoly at the overseas box offices.
The overall total of the film after its second weekend in the international market now stands at ₹38.49 crore. The country wise collection of the movie is: UK ₹6.54 crore (£ 738,736), USA ₹12.04 crore ($ 2,200,000), UAE ₹10.03 crore (AED 6,700,000), New Zealand ₹91.34 lacs (NZ$ 202,236) and Australia ₹ 3.10 crore (A$ 544,103).
Earlier, it was expected that the film will cross the ₹200 crore in its second week. Seeing the decline in collections, it seems that the movie may not touch the mark in its third week.
