Action comedy film "Dabangg 2" has finally surpassed the ₹200 crore mark at worldwide box offices three weeks after its release. The worldwide box office collection of the Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha starrer now stands at ₹202 crore.
The blockbuster film raked in ₹155 crore after the third week at domestic box offices and internally collected approximately ₹47 crore till the third weekend.
The movie, which marks Arbaaz Khan's debut as director, was released across 3,500 screens in India and 450 screens abroad on Dec 21. The opening day collection of the movie was ₹21.10 crore, making it the biggest opener ever for a Friday release.
Within the first week, the movie surpassed the ₹100 crore and broke the record of Shahrukh Khan starrer "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" and Aamir Khan starrer "Talaash" at domestic box offices.
Looking at the pace of collection in first week, the film was expected to cross the ₹200 crore in its second week itself but failed to do. Despite no new releases till the second week, the collection declined drastically.
The movie in its first week raked in ₹106.78 crore, ₹37 crore in the second week and ₹11 crore in the third week. The business was affected majorly in North India due to the cold wave and anti-rape protests.
The film requires another ₹45 crore to surpass the ₹200 crore mark in India. Considering its current collections, it appears that the film will not able to achieve that target even after its fourth week.
Also, Bollywood's latest release "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola", directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, is set to affect the collections of "Dabangg 2".
