Salman Khan is ruling the box office at the moment with his latest release "Dabangg 2" still going strong. The first week collection of the film at the domestic BO has crossed ₹100 crore mark, beating Aamir Khan's "Talaash" and Shah Rukh Khan's "Jab Tak Hai Jaan".
"Dabangg 2", directed by Arbaaz Khan and featuring Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, was released on Friday across 3,500 screens in India and 450 screens abroad.
According to trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh, "Dabangg 2" earned a whopping ₹106.78 crore in the first week of its release, which is way ahead of the collections of Aamir Khan's "Talaash" and Shah Rukh Khan's "Jab Tak Hai Jaan".
"Talaash", which features Aamir Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor, was released across 2500 screens in India and 520 screens overseas last month. The film collected ₹67.9 crore at the domestic box office in the opening week. Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" earned ₹86.09 crore in the first week.
"Dabangg 2" is also doing reasonably well at the overseas box office. It earned ₹64.98 lakhs (NZ$ 144,183) from New Zealand in the first week, ₹2.69 crore (A$ 473,214) in Australia and ₹5.40 crore in the UK, according to Adarsh.
