It is well known that Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone appears as a Tamil girl in Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express" but never did we know that she is learning to speak Tamil.
The trailer of "Chennai Express", which was released recently, showed Deepika speaking Hindi in heavy south Indian accent. Buzz is that the actress learnt a few words to speak in Tamil from none other than southern superstar Rajinikanth.
Rajini and Deepika will be sharing screen space in their upcoming Tamil film, "Kochadaiyaan." Deepika reportedly learnt some Tamil words from the superstar while working together.
Interestingly, "Chennai Express" has a strong connection with the south. The film is about a Mumbai-based man who travels down south to Rameswaram where he meets and falls in love with a Tamilian. Deepika plays the role of a Tamil-speaking woman whose character name is Meenalochini.
Directed by Rohit Shetty of "Golmaal" franchise, "Chennai Express" boasts of an ensemble cast of south Indian actors, Veterans Sathyaraj and Manorama appear in pivotal roles. While Sathyaraj plays Deepika's father, Manorama has been cast as her aunt.
Actress Priya Mani is doing an item song with Shah Rukh. The song titled "One two three four, get on the dance floor" was released on YouTube on Friday. Priya and Shah Rukh are seen dancing with great energy for this item number choreographed by Raju Sundaram, brother of Prabhu Deva.
The film, which is slated for release om Eid, has music composed by Vishal-Shekhar.
This is the second time that Deepika has been paired opposite Shah Rukh Khan after their blockbuster flick, "Om Shanti Om," which was released in 2007. The actress is on a roll post the success of her recently-released film, "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", co-starring Ranbir Kapoor. She will be seen in big budget films including "Chennai Express", "Kochadaiyaan" and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Ram Leela" this year.
