Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer "Chennai Express" has become one of the most profitable films of the year. The romantic entertainer continues to hold audience interest in its fourth week and is raking in good figures at the worldwide box offices, despite the reduce number of screens and competition from new releases.
Although the collections have dropped drastically, the film is maintaining a steady position at the box office. After having a decent fourth weekend, the film raked in ₹56 lakh on its fourth Monday in India.
Made on a budget of ₹75 crore, the film raked in over ₹222 crore from just India before finishing its four-week theatrical run. The film has made a profit of approximately ₹145 crore from Indian markets.
"#ChennaiExpress [Week 4] Fri 81 lacs, Sat 1.14 cr, Sun 1.89 cr, Mon 56 lacs. Grand total: ₹222.82 cr. All Time Blockbuster," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Rohit Shetty's directional film should take make a lifetime domestic collection record of ₹225 crore.
The film, filled with action, romance and comedy, is unstoppable on the overseas front as well.

"Chennai Express", which currently tops the worldwide collection chart, will take the worldwide total to between ₹405 core and ₹407 crore.
The film has apparently overtaken previous record-holder "3 Idiots" at the worldwide box office. The gross worldwide total of "Chennai Express" is reportedly more than ₹400 crore, while Aamir Khan's "3 Idiots" gross total is ₹386 crore.
