Tenaliraman
Vadivelu's "Tenaliraman" took a good opening in its first weekend. The film minted ₹75.4 lakh at the Chennai box office, according to Behindwoods.
Despite receiving mixed reviews, the historic comedy entertainer did good business in its opening weekend, thanks to the presence of Vadivelu, who has made his onscreen comeback after a two-year hiatus.
The film witnessed an average theatre occupancy of 75 percent during the weekend. It remains to be seen how the Vadivelu starrer fares in the coming days.
Naan Sigappu Manithan
Vishal-Lakshmi Menon's "Naan Sigappu Manithan", which took a good opening last weekend, has managed to hold on well even in its second week.
Although the film has lost some shows due to new releases, it has sustained its momentum at the box office.
The revenge thriller is estimated to have collected ₹1.28 crore in 10 days.
Maan Karate
Sivakarthikeyan-Hansika's "Maan Karate" has managed to hold on to its shows, despite the presence of big releases like "Naan Sigappu Manithan" and "Tenaliraman".
The film took a fantastic opening on the first day of its release and has turned out to be the biggest grosser in Sivakarthikeyan's career so far.
The fantasy romantic entertainer is estimated to have grossed ₹4.3 crore in 17 days at the Chennai box office.
Damaal Dumeel
Vaibhav-Remya Nambeesan's "Damaal Dumeel" has taken a below-average opening in Chennai.
The film, which released along with "Tenaliraman", minted ₹7.23 lakh in its first weekend. The noir-comedy has received decent reviews from critics but did not fetch good collections in its debut weekend. It will be interesting to see if the film will be able to pick up and perform well at the box office.
