Masala Entertainer "Boss" has showed slight growth in its business at the domestic box office on its fourth day. Due to India-Australia cricket match, the business showed little growth despite being a Saturday.
The final figures are yet to be confirmed but as per early estimates, the Akshay Kumar starrer minted between than ₹6 to 6.5 crore on Saturday. The total collection of "Boss" has gone above ₹36 crore.
The film is dominating the single screen market across the country and its collections from single screens have been much better than the multiplexes. However, on Saturday the film was expected to pick up and earn more moolah at the box office but it failed to make a significant impact.
One of the reasons for the film's dull performance on Saturday was the ODI match between India and Australia that started in the afternoon.
The film, made on a budget of ₹50 crore, was one of the most awaited releases of late. After a series of flop films, it was expected that "Boss" would end Bollywood's dry spell at the box office.
Trade analysts believe that the weeks before Diwali are one of the worst times to release films.
"Considering that the pre-Diwali weeks are among the worst to release films with high stakes in; Boss has managed to get a very good opening," exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi told Bollywood life.
"The sustainance has been good on the 2nd day despite it being a working weekday and the collections are bound to get better than those of Thursday over the weekend, while things would have been even better if the film had performed well at the multiplexes, this one will do just fine on the strength of its might at the single screens," he added.
Helmed by Anthony D'Souza, the film also features Mithun Chakraborty, Danny Denzongpa, Johnny Lever, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shiv Pandit and Ronit Roy.
