Farhan Akhtar-Sonam Kapoor's "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" has received a fantastic response in the first two days of its release.
"Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" had a slow start on Friday morning but the film witnessed growth for every show throughout the day. It received an average of 40-45 percent collections at multiplexes in India, but the evening and night shows saw a huge jump in collections.
The Farhan starrer raked in ₹8.50 crore in the first day of its release. Saturday's (13 July) figures are much better than Friday's with early trends suggesting that the collections are pegged at ₹10.25 crore plus. Counting of figures is still continuing and the exact amount is expected to be revealed by Sunday.
As of now "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" collections stand at ₹19.80 crore including Thursday's paid previews that minted ₹1.05 crore.
"#BhaagMilkhaBhaag Thu previews 1.05 cr, Fri 8.50 cr, Sat 10.25 [still counting]. Total: Rs 19.80 cr. Excellent!," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
According to trade sources, Saturday's collections might even cross ₹10.5 crore. At this rate, the film might rake in ₹30 crore plus at the end of the first weekend.
"Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" is a biographical sports film inspired by the Indian athlete Milkha Singh's ("Flying Sikh) life journey. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film has made good business in the first two days. Circuits including Delhi, Punjab and Mumbai have seen a remarkable growth in business.
The film has fared far better than Ranveer-Sonakshi Sinha's recently-released "Lootera", which had a slow start on the first day of its release with just over ₹5 crore. The first weekend collections of the film was pegged at ₹18.5 crore. "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" has grossed more than "Lootera's" first weekend collections in just two days.
"Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" has even crossed Dhanush-Sonam Kapoor's "Raanjhanaa" first two-day collections that stood at ₹11.87 crore. The sports film minted more money than "Ghanchakkar" which collected just over ₹14 crore in two days of its release.
