Bollywood film "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag", a sports biopic based on Indian athlete Milkha Singha, is racing towards the ₹100 crore at the Indian box office. But the film has already hit the century mark worldwide.
The Farhan Akhtar starrer has raked in ₹93.5 crore from domestic market after completing its 18-day theatrical run. The film collected around ₹21 crore ($3.5 million) from the overseas markets after completing its third weekend.
Adding the domestic and overseas figures, the overall total of "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" stands at ₹114.5 crore. At the worldwide box office the film has crossed ₹100 crore in just 15 days.
"Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" is the fifth Hindi film that has surpassed the ₹100 crore mark this year at the worldwide box office, after "Race 2", "Aashiqui 2", "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" and "Raanjhanaa".
The intense sports drama has turned out to be a hit on the overseas front. The film was not released in New Zealand market. In Fiji, the flick was released in just one screen. In UK, the film managed to score ₹2.11 crore (£ 2, 30,718) after its third weekend. It raked in a total of ₹2.06 crore (A$ 3,75,221) from the Australian box office after completing 18 days.
In India, "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" will soon make it to the century club.
"At the speed #BhaagMilkhaBhaag is racing ahead, the ₹100 cr mark should be crossed by next week," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film has been declared tax-free in almost five states, which is in turn helping its business.
