Even after four weeks, Tollywood actor Jr NTR's latest movie "Baadshah" is still going strong at the US box office.
"Baadshah" opened to a grand response worldwide on 5 April, thanks to director Sreenu Vaitla who has made an entertaining movie with all the ingredients needed for a commercial success. The film's good performance has silenced all critics on NTR and the actor is back on track after facing three flops consistently in a row.
The film opened with a bang in the US, releasing in a record number of theatres. The first day collections were huge with the movie earning $ 234,686 [₹1.29 cr] from 76 locations. It smashed the record of Mahesh Babu's "Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu" (SVSC), which had collected $205,347 (around ₹1.11 crore) on its opening day.
Despite a few big releases including Nithiin's "Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde" and Venkatesh's "Shadow", "Baadshah" is continuing its success at the box office by maintaining strong viewership. After the fourth weekend of its release, the film earned a total of ₹6.92 crore in the US.
"Telugu film #Baadshah *total after 4th Weekend* USA $ 1,277,774 [₹6.92 crores]" trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Even as Jr NTR is reeling from the mega success of his movie, the actor has begun shooting for his next action flick - "Ramayya Vastavayya". Directed by Harish Shankar, the film will have Samantha and Shruti Haasan playing the female leads.
Going by the looks of Jr NTR in the first look poster, one can expect it to be another action entertainer. The poster has already generated a lot of buzz about the film's storyline. Latest reports said that Jr NTR will appear as a student leader. The film's shooting is progressing at a rapid pace in Hyderabad and other locations.
"Ramayya Vastavayya" is scheduled to release on 9 August to cash in on Eid holiday as well as Independence Day weekend.
