Jr NTR's "Baadshah" has fetched ₹7.02 crore till Sunday (12 May) at the US box office.
"Baadshah", which was released on 5 April, is still being screened in US theatres. However, the film's collections have dropped in the last few days. The film, which was released in a record number of 110 screens fetched ₹5.70 crore in its opening weekend in the US.
"Baadshah" was declared a smash hit in the US with the film earning ₹6.72 crores after the second weekend. It performed much better than some of the other films including "Nautanki Saala" which earned ₹50.66 lakh in its opening weekend at the US box office and Tamil film "Settai" that fetched just a total of ₹41.81 lakhs after the second weekend.
However, the film's collections began to dip after the second weekend. The film, which was shown on 25 screens in its third week, fetched a total of ₹6.87 crore. At the end of fourth week, "Baadshah" minted ₹6.88 crore.
Until last Sunday (12 May), the Jr NTR starrer had raked in ₹7.02 crore ($ 1,281,249). "Telugu film #Baadshah *total till Sun* USA $ 1,281,249 [Rs 7.02 cr]," film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Directed by Sreenu Vaitla of "Dookudu" fame, "Baadshah" is an action entertainer with all the ingredients needed for a commercially successful film. The film was a litmus test of sorts for the young tiger of Telugu cinema (Jr NTR) who had faced three flops in a row. The Vaitla-Jr NTR combo has worked wonders for the film.
Kajal Aggarwal, who was last seen with NTR in "Brindavanam", has been paired with the actor once again in "Baadshah". Comedians MS Narayana and Brahmanadam have provided comic relief in the flick. The rest of the star cast includes Siddharth, Kelly Dorji, Navdeep and Nassar.
