Family entertainer "Attarintiki Daredi" (AD) has earned approximately over ₹69 crore (worldwide share) in 23 days.
The Pawan Kalyan-starrer, which is doing good business at the AP box office, will be completing a successful 25-day run on Monday (21 October). Despite new releases such as Jr NTR's "Ramayya Vastavyya" and Vishnu Manchu's "Doosukeltha", "AD" has managed to set the cash registers ringing even in its fourth week.
The film had intially faced troubles owing to Samaikhiandhra protests and piracy issues. The Trivikram directorial opened with a bang on the first day of its release (27 September). Even after setting several new records in India (highest one day and one week collections) and at the US box office, the film continues to bring in more audience to theatres.
With each passing day, the film is nearing the collections of 2009-blockbuster "Magadheera", which is deemed as the highest grossing (worldwide share) Telugu film. The Pawan-starrer will remain as the one of the biggest Telugu hits of all time.
Power Star has churned out two blockbusters in consecutive years - "Gabbar Singh" (2012) and "Attarintiki Daredi" (2013). Now, the focus will shift to Pawan's new film "Gabbar Singh 2", a sequel to "Gabbar Singh".
The film, directed by Sampath Nandi of "Racha" fame, is all set to go on floors in a few weeks, according to reports. While Pawan has been confirmed to play the title role, the other cast members are yet to be announced.
Apparently, the heroine hunt for the film is still on. Earlier, it was reported that the makers of "Gabbar Singh 2" considered names of Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma for the female lead role. There is no official confirmation on the leading lady.
"Gabbar Singh" is a remake of Salman Khan's "Dabangg". The sequel to the Hindi version released last year. The Telugu version sequel will not be the same as "Dabangg 2".
"Gabbar Singh 2" will be produced by Sharath Marar, a good friend of Pawan Kalyan. The sequel is likely to get released next year.
