Pawan Kalyan's "Attarintiki Daredi" continues to dominate at the Andhra Pradesh box office, despite witnessing significant decline in its collections at the Seemandhra region.
"Attarintiki Daredi" opened to massive response on the first day of its release, earning over ₹10 crore at the Andhra Pradesh box office alone. But the film's collections have dropped from the second day in key markets including Nizam, Ceded and Vizag. Seemandhra region registered a 50 percent drop in the collections on Tuesday (1 October). But, the film's overall figures were quite higher on Wednesday (2 October), thanks to Gandhi Jayanthi holiday.
The Pawan Kalyan starrer still rules the AP box office as there were no big releases in the last few days. "Attarintiki Daredi" has raked in ₹32.83 crore in just six days since its release in Andhra, according to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Here is the breakup of the film's sixth-day collections in key areas: ₹1.70 crore in Nizam, ₹59 lakh in Ceded, ₹42.6 lakh in Vizag, ₹27 lakh in Guntur, ₹24.71 lakh in Krishna, ₹21.5 lakh in East, ₹19 lakh in West and ₹13 lakh in Nellore.
The family entertainer fetched ₹3.768 crore in its sixth day and its total collections stand at ₹32.83 crore. The film has reportedly grossed over ₹40 crore at the worldwide box office.
Despite the ongoing Samaikhyandhra protests, "Attarintiki Daredi" released without facing any issues. The film initially performed well in the Seemandhra region and one of the main reasons is said to be the closure of all educational institutions from 22-30 September. As a result of the forced holidays, theatres were full in the first few days, K Sivaprasad, secretary, Vijayawada branch of A P Film Chamber of Commerce, told The Times of India.
But, as the protests continue and educational institutions have opened, it has to be seen if "Attarintiki Daredi" will be able to carry on its dream run at the box office. Nevertheless, the film has already been declared a massive hit. It has smashed several records in the US as well as in some south Indian states including Tamil Nadu and AP.
Now, all eyes are on Jr NTR's "Ramayya Vastavayya", which is set to hit screens on 10 October. Directed by Harish Shankar of "Gabbar Singh" fame, "Ramayya Vastavayya" is Jr NTR's second release of the year after the blockbuster flick "Baadshah." Expectations are high for the film, thanks to the impressive trailers and soundtracks. Only time will tell if Jr NTR's film will be able to beat the records set by the Pawan Kalyan starrer.
