Nani-Vaani Kapoor's "Aaha Kalyanam", which is the official remake of "Band Baajaa Baarat", has done average business in Tamil Nadu, while its performance in Andhra Pradesh is poor. The film's performance is said to be disastrous in overseas markets.
"Aaha Kalyanam", directed by debutant Gokul Krishna, was released on 21 February worldwide. The film took an average opening at the Tamil Nadu box office. The Nani starrer is carrying decent reports, but its collections are average as it was released in lesser number of screens.
According to Behindwoods website, "Aaha Kalyanam" minted over ₹21 lakh in its opening weekend at the Chennai box office.
The Telugu version of the film opened on a poor note in Andhra Pradesh. The romantic entertainer was released in limited screens compared to Nani's other releases and the film's performance was poor at the box office.
The film has turned out to be a big disaster in the overseas markets including US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand.
According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "Aaha Kalyanam" has minted ₹2.21 lakh in the US, whereas it has earned over ₹22,000 in Canada and more than ₹89,000 in Australia during the first weekend.
"Tamil film #AahaKalyanam *opng wknd* USA $ 3,556 [Rs 2.21 lacs]... Canada $ 368 [Rs 22,835/-]... Australia A$ 1,612 [Rs 89,847/-]... Rentrak," Taran tweeted.
"Tamil film #AahaKalyanam *opng wknd* New Zealand NZ$ 314 [Rs 16,143/-] ... Rentrak," he added.
The Telugu version of the film has also performed badly in the US with the film raking in over ₹86,000 in its opening weekend.
Only time will tell how the film fares in the coming days, as there are several new releases.
