Xiaomi is holding an event on 24 November where it is expected to unveil a couple of devices namely the Redmi Note 2 Pro and Mi Pad 2 but it appears like the much-elusive Mi 5 is not coming this time.
There were reports that the Xiaomi Mi 5 could be released along with the Redmi Note 2 Pro and Mi Pad 2 at Xiaomi's upcoming event but that may not happen.
Xiaomi co-founder Lin Bin has posted pictures of the Redmi Note 2 Pro and the Mi Pad 2 on his Weibo page (via Phone Radar), giving a clear hint that these devices will be launched at the company's upcoming scheduled event. But in what could disappoint many, no mention has been made on the much-awaited flagship device, the Mi 5.
So, it is very unlikely that the Xiaomi Mi4 successor will see the light of day this month.
It may be recalled that the Xiaomi Mi 5 has been in news for a few months now with reports suggesting that it would be unveiled in July before hitting the stores in August but it never happened. Then there were reports that it would be launched in September, and that too didn't materialise. So, it will not come as a surprise if the release date of the device is pushed to December or even next year.
According to reports, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will sport a 5.2-inch QHD touchscreen with 2560 x 1440 pixels screen resolution and protected by Gorilla Glass 4, and priced at around $399, approximately Rs 26,500. It is also expected to come with features like fingerprint sensor and Type-C USB port.
The flagship device is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system, come packed with 32/64 GB internal memory and 4 GB RAM, have a 16 MP main camera with optical Image stabilization (OIS) and 5 MP secondary snapper and house a 3000mAh battery.
