According to sources, Xiaomi mi is working on a new Android handset. Though the company hasn't announced anything officially, the device is expected to appear as Xiaomi mi 5, a successor to their latest flagship mi 4. Reports claim that the latest smartphone is likely to feature a 2.5D screen and will be made available at 20000 INR (1999 YUAN).
Xiaomi is expected to package it with an eight-core processor, 64-bit computing ability and 3GB of RAM at least. It's quite certain that Xiaomi will ship this device with Android Lollipop bundle. The users would love to have a better rear camera with additional security features like a fingerprint sensor. A heart rate monitor too will be welcome.
The current Xiaomi mi 4 features a great combination of hardware and software. It has a 5-inch IPS LCD screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution at 441 pixels per inch. Mi 4 has been powered by a Qualcomm MSM8974AC SoC chipset, 3GB RAM and 64GB internal memory.
The quadcore 2.5GHz Krait 400 CPU produces enough power and graphic performance with Andreno 330 GPU's assistance. It also features a 13MP primary camera with autofocus ability and Dual LED flashes. On the front Xiaomi mi 4 has an 8MP camera with 1080p video recording capability at 30 frames per second. Xiaomi ships the device with Android Kitkat 4.4 OS with an updated layer of MIUI interface over it.
The Chinese handset OEM has already rolled out smartphones across three genres -- budget, mid-range and premium series. In India, their budget handset Xiaomi Redmi 1s and the mid-range Xiaomi mi 3 are made available through Flipkart, an e-tailer site.
Redmi Note is another Xiaomi device which will be available for purchase in a few weeks. Though Xiaomi mi 4 is available in China, the company has not announced anything about its availability in India.
