Movies landing in trouble at the eleventh hour of their release is not a new thing in Kollywood. The latest film to land in a similar situation is "Paayum Puli". Fortunately, the film has been bailed out of the trouble and will now release as planned before.
Kollywood witnessed a drama-filled Wednesday, 2 September, when the Producers Council made a surprising announcement that no movies would be released 4 September onwards in protest of the obstacles created by Tamil Nadu theatres.
The Producers' Council said that Rohini Theatre along with some other theatres were creating obstacles for Tamil films and the latest example was "Paayum Puli". The exhibitors demanded a huge sum for its release and to put an end to such unfair practise, the guild decided not to release any new film from 4 September.
This decision sent shock waves to the audience and the makers of "Paayum Puli", who are all set for the release of the film. Actor Vishal expressed his unhappiness over the development as he posted, "Y do u ppl bring out issues on da last day insted of solving it months bfore Unethical.Y stop releases jus for 1 distributor n few theatres (sic)."
The producer of "Paayum Puli", with the support of few others, spoke to the Producer Council members to explain the affects that the industry in general and their film in specific would face if the films are not released.
It appears like the guild was convinced and agreed for the release of "Paayum Puli". After the meeting, Vishal announced that the movie will hit screens on 4 September. He wrote, "Yes #PaayumPuli wil release as per schedule on Sep 4th worldwide both languages. Hard work will always pay off. God bless."
"Paayum Puli" is written and directed by Suseenthiran. It is an action movie, which stars Vishal and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles.
