With three months left for Diwali, the buzz surrounding the films releasing during the festival period is gaining momentum at every passing day.
As of now, two films - Vijay's "Kaththi" and Vishal's "Poojai" - are slated to hit the screens for Diwali.
"Kaththi," directed by AR Murugadoss, is touted to be an action thriller with Vijay playing dual roles. Around 70 percent of the film's shooting is completed and it is expected to be wrapped up soon. On the other hand, director Hari's action entertainer "Poojai" is also progressing well. Both the films are confirmed to lock horns at the box office.
There were also reports suggesting that Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" would release for Diwali. But, later it was claimed that the film will be hitting theatres for the superstar's birthday on 12 December. However, "Lingaa" makers are yet to announce its release date.
If the latest speculations are to be believed, one more biggie might join the Diwali race. Rumours are doing the rounds that Vikram-Shankar's most-awaited film "Ai" might release for the Diwali in October. Buzz is that "Ai" producer Aascar Ravichandran has settled his dues and the film might be out for festival, reported the Times of India.
If the reports turn out to be true, fans can witness a big clash between "Ai", "Kaththi" and "Poojai." However, an official confirmation regarding the exact release date of "Ai" is yet to be announced.
Directed by Shankar, "Ai" has been in the making for the past couple of years. The romantic thriller has Amy Jackson playing the female lead opposite Vikram. The film also has Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi and Bollywood actor Upen Patel in supporting roles.
"Ai" music is composed by AR Rahman, cinematography is handled by PC Sreeram and editing by Anthony. The talkie portions of the film are completed and only a song is left to be shot. The film's post-production work has already commenced and is going on in full swing.
Expectations are huge for "Ai," as Shankar and Vikram have teamed up for the second time after nearly nine years after their blockbuster flick "Anniyan" hit the screens. Vikram had only one release in 2013 – the Tamil-Hindi bilingual "David." The action thriller, directed by Bejoy Nambiar, failed to set the cash registers ringing. Fans of the star will be expecting "Ai" to perform well at the box office, considering it is a Shankar film.
The film's audio launch is expected to happen soon. Earlier, there were reports suggesting that the audio launch might happen in August. But, nothing is officially confirmed.
