Hansika Motwani has romanced Siddhu in "Uyire Uyire." Ajay, Aadukalam Naren, Chaya Singh, Rohini, Uma Padmanabhan and others are part of the cast. Anoop Rubeens has composed the music for the Tamil movie and "O Priya" and "Listen to My Heart" tracks from the film have garnered positive response from the audience.
RD Rajasekhar has handled the cinematography department, while Suraj Kavi has edited the film. "Uyire Uyire" is a remake of hit Telugu movie "Ishq," written and directed by Vikram Kumar, who is now busy with Suriya-starrer "24." The original version starred Nitin and Nithya Menen.
The Story:
Priya (Hansika Motwani) becomes friends with Rahul (Siddhu) on her accidental journey to Goa. After initially disliking the Rahul, she falls in love with him. However, the story takes a twist when he spots her brother Shiva (Ajay).
A flashback reveals that Shiva was madly in love with Rahul's sister, played by Chaya Singh, who had rejected him. He becomes a hurdle in Rahul and Priya's relationship. How the couple's relationship is accepted by their families forms the remaining part of the flick.
The original version was a hit. But the Tamil remake has not lived up to critics' expectations. Find their response to "Uyire Uyire" here:
Hindustan Times Review: One had expected someone as talented as Jaya Prada (Satyajit Ray once described her as the most beautiful woman) and an ace politician like Amar Singh to invest their money in at least an above-average movie, but what they have produced -- Uyire Uyire (Tamil) -- is unwatchable.
Sify Review: A film like Ishq worked only because of the tremendous energy level of its protagonist but here all those lovely moments is missing, thanks to the miscast.
