However, "Kick 2" music composer Thaman couldn't attend the function as he missed his flight to Hyderabad. "#missed my @jetairways flight to #hyd #missing our #massmaharaj's #kick2 openinG Very badlY toDaYy #goodluck#team," the composer tweeted.
The film's shooting will commence on Wednesday. Teja will play the male lead role, but details about the film's entire cast are yet to be revealed. The latest buzz is that a newcomer will play opposite mass maharaja.
"Kick 2" is a sequel to the 2009-hit film "Kick." The film was an action comedy drama wherein Teja appeared in the role of a guy who does anything to get a kick. It received positive response and performed well at the box office. The Hindi remake with Salman Khan in the lead, which hit the screens on 25 July, has also done an extraordinary business at the box office earning more than ₹200 crore.
Considering the positive reception for "Kick", there will be huge expectations for its sequel. Director Reddy had earlier stated that the sequel will have nothing to do with the original version, but will be more entertaining than the first part.
"We are going to begin shooting for 'Kick 2' from Wednesday. The film is going to be even more entertaining than 'Kick' and we will spare no effort to ensure it. Ravi Teja is going to be seen in a cracker-jack of a role," Reddy told the Times of India.
It needs to be seen whether the director will be able to do justice to fans' expectations. "Kick 2" will be produced by actor Kalyan Ram under the NTR Arts banner and is expected to hit the screens next year.
