Tamil actor and filmmaker Balu Anand passed away on Friday, June 3, after reportedly suffering a massive heart attack. The actor was 61 and is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
Balu Anand complained of severe chest pain at his residence in Kalampalayam in Coimbatore before his family members rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, reports the Press Trust of India (PTI). He breathed his last around 12:30 a.m.
He had acted in over 100 films in Kollywood. Some of his most notable films were "Pistha," "Anbe Sivam," "Anna Nagar Mudhal Theru" and "Nane Raja Naane Mantri." He had also directed films like "Annanagar Mudhal Theru." His last directorial film was "Anandha Thollai."
His mortal remains have been kept for public viewing and people are paying homage to the actor. The funeral rights will be performed after 3 p.m. on Friday, said reports.
