The film was a remake of the Hollywood romantic comedy "Benny and Joon" starring Aidan Quinn, Mary Stuart Masterson, Johnny Depp and Julianne Moore.
Kumar began his scripting career with Malayil's "Amrutham" in 2005. He then went on do scripts for films like "Veruthe Oru Bharya", "Gaddama", "Swapna Sanchari", "Bharya Athra Pora" and "Pattam Pole."

Meanwhile, Jayaram has joined the team after wrapping up the shooting of "Uthama Villain" starring Kamal Hassan, directed by Ramesh Aravind. He plays a pivotal role of Jacob Zachariah in the film.
The actor's career has been refined in the past one year with the release "Swapanam" by Shaji N Karun and Kamal's "Nadan." Both the films increased his career graph to peaks.
Jayaram played the character of Unni in "Swapaanam," who is a 'Chenda' player. Whereas, "Nadan" dealt with the life of Devdas Sargavedi, owner of a popular drama company. The film goes through the emotional struggle of Devadas to sustain the art of theatre and theatre artists.
At the same time, Priyamani, who is busy with Kannada and Telugu films, was last seen in Malayalam in the 2002 release "Grandmaster" with Mohanlal. The film was directed by B Unnikrishnan and she played the role of Deepthi, who is an advocate and the ex-wife of Chandrashekaran played by Mohanlal. She was appreciated for the ease and maturity with which she handled the character.
Malayil-Jayaram combination have earlier done magic on the screen with film like "Amrutham", "Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum", "Summer In Bethlehem", "Kaliveedu" and "Malayogam," which all dealt with family and relationships.
The new combination of Jayaram and Priyamani in "Njangalude Veettile Adithikal" is expected to bring back the old charm of family stories of Malayalam cinema.
