Ram-Raashi Khanna starrer Telugu movie "Shivam", which released on 2 October, has received negative reviews and poor ratings from the critics.
"Shivam" is a romantic-action film with a high comic quotient. The movie marks debut of Srinivas Reddy as an independent director.
The film revolves around the story of love guru Shiva (Ram), who helps lovers to get married against all odds. What he does when he falls in love with Tanu (Raashi Khanna) and how he faces problems form the crux of the story.
Critics say that "Shivam" is "old wine in new bottle". Ram's performance, Raashi's glamour, music, picturisation, beautiful locales and few comedy scenes are the saving grace of the movie, which has been rated an average of 2.35 out of 5 stars by the film critics. Its length and boring narration are the main drawbacks of the movie, the critics say.
We bring you some critics' verdict and ratings for the movie. Continue to see the same in the "Shivam" movie review roundup:
The film is lengthy, boring and comedy isn't enough to save the day.
The only saving grace in this film are the songs which picturised very well. All in all the film is extremely lengthy, too ordinary and very boring.
It is like an extended parody of a well-known film. A wafer-thin story line and characters that are superficially involved themselves, everyone completes the 'lighter'.
Shivam is yet another routine and dragged out commercial entertainer. If you are ok with the same old story line, routine comedy and can manage to sit through the painful run time, you might end up liking it. But for the rest, other than Ram's screen presence and some decent songs, this film has nothing much to offer and ends up as just a below average affair.
Total failure of the new director Srinivas Reddy, not a single scene has worthy enough to say that it has some novelty. His complete lack of grip on narration is clearly seen from the first frame. First half is somewhat better in comparison with the second half but in totality this is mess of hotchpotch sequences.
Shivam makes a tedious watch with clichéd story, old narration. Ram and production values are saving grace.
