Cinematographer-turned-director Rajeev Ravi's Malayalam movie, titled "Kammatipaadam," has been making headlines ever since it went on floors. It is one of the much-awaited projects in Mollywood as it has Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role.
A few days after the movie's title was out, sources close to the movie say that Shaun Romy will be paired opposite the "Charlie" actor in the upcoming movie. In the film, set in the 80s, the Bangalore-based Malayali biotech engineer will be seen as one of the initial residents of Kochi long before it became a busy city.
Shaun has revealed in a recent interview that being a girl brought up in a metro city, she had to do quite a lot of hard work to get into the skin of her character. Even before commencing the shoot, she had visited Kochi to get to know about the actual inhabitants of the city. "I spoke to a lot of such people who work in shops, markets and beauty parlours. It helped me learn the true Kochi slang, and gave me insights into the character," she said to the Times of India .
Shaun, who is also a fan of Dulquer, has appreciated her co-star for constantly boosting her confidence during the shooting. "He's extremely patient. There were times when I needed a lot more takes to nail the scene. But he would constantly boost my confidence, saying, 'it's alright, you can do it!" she added.
The movie is also said to have another north Indian actress in a pivotal role. After completing the first schedule of the shooting in Mumbai, the makers have started the final schedule in Cochin on Feb. 10. The movie is being scripted by P Balachandran and also has Vinay Forrt, Vinayakan and Shine Tom Chacko in significant roles. "Kammatipaadam" is expected to hit the screens in May this year.
Produced by Global United Media (GUM), "Kammatipaadam" is the third directorial venture of the National Film Award winning cinematographer after "Annayul Rasoolum" and "Njan Steve Lopez."
Meanwhile, Dulquer will next be seen opposite "Premam"-fame Sai Pallavi in Sameer Thahir's "Kali," followed by the projects of Amal Neerad, Prathap Pothen and Anoop Sathyan.
