Shah Rukh Khan, the king of Bollywood, will soon be seen in a Marathi film. The actor will reportedly play a cameo in Nagesh Kukunoor's "Dhanak", which is a remake of the Iranian film, "Besak".
Shah Rukh, who is a good friend with Kukunoor, has agreed to be a part of the project and will reportedly play himself in the film, reported India Today.
Through his cameo, Shah Rukh will also be seen endorsing the noble idea of eye donation. According to the report, the actor has already shot for two days in Rajasthan.
Despite being quite busy with "Happy New Year" promotions and marketing strategies, the "Chennai Express" actor has spared some time for his filmmaker friend.
"Dhanak" is based on a brother-sister relationship. The story revolves around the older sister bonds with her blind, younger brother and how she works towards restoring his eyesight.
With "Dhanak", Shah Rukh enters the likes of many bollywood actors, including Riteish Deshmukh and Salman Khan, who have featured in Marathi film.
Deshmukh debut in Marathi film "Lai Bhaari", produced by his wife Genelia D'Souza. The action thriller was a blockbuster and the widest release in the history of Marathi cinema.
"Lai Bhaari" also saw Salman Khan in a cameo role. While Deshmukh made waves in the heart of the audience with his power-packed performances, Salman's appearance was the cherry on the cake.
Of late, many Bollywood celebs have tried their hands in Marathi film production as well.
Few months back, a report of Shah Rukh joining hands with director Rohit Shetty for a Marathi film surfaced. The duo was supposed to produce the flick after the super success of their film "Chennai Express". Although, the actor would not take the lead role, he would feature as a guest appearance. However, further details regarding the project are apparently under wraps.
In 2013, Deshmukh produced "Balak Palak" and later financed his second film "Yellow" (2014)
Even Akshay Kumar produced the Marathi film "72 Miles - Ek Pravas" under Grazing Goat Pictures. He is also producing another film "Anntar" that stars Tanishaa Mukherjee and Sumeet Raghavan in lead roles.
Amitabh Bachchan's production company AB Corp produced "Vihir" in 2010. Even Anil Kapoor is planning to put his money in Marathi films.
