Telugu family drama film "Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu" is riding high at overseas box offices. The multi-starrer film raked in amazing figures in the US during the first weekend.
The film, which stars Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu, Anjali and Samantha in lead roles, grossed ₹6.87 crores in its opening weekend from 69 screens. Considering Mahesh Babu's fan base in the US, the film is performing exceptionally well overseas.
"Telugu film #SVSC is rewriting the rules of the game. Embarked on a mind-blowing start in USA, garnering a rich haul in opening weekend. Telugu film #SVSC *opening weekend* USA $ 1,262,100 [₹ 6.87 cr]. Note:- Thu to Sun [4 days] figures. Reported screens only," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The family drama film is giving a tough competition to other Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Punjabi films. The three-day business of the film is much more than that the six-day earnings of "Nayaak".
"Nayaak", which stars Ram Charan Teja, Kajal Aggarwal and Amala Paul, was released on Jan 9. The movie grossed ₹2.11 from 54 screens in six days. It opened to amazing response but the business went down drastically after the release of "SVSC".
"SVSC" also affected the business of Hindi movie "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola". Both released on the same day, but "MKBKM" collected a lower ₹1.85 crore from 113 screens as against the ₹6.87 crore earnings of "SVSC" from 69 screens.
Apart from the main leads, the film also features Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Rohini Hattangadi, Rao Ramesh, Abhinaya, Brahmanandam, Kota Srinivasa Rao and Tanikella Bharani in supporting roles.
