Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's popular talk show "Satyamev Jayate 3" has garnered better TRP ratings than Superstar Salman Khan's controversial reality TV show "Bigg Boss 8".
Salman Khan's "Bigg Boss 8", which went on air on 21 September, is one of the most sought after reality TV shows. The makers of the show have had massive promotions for it before and after its launch. The show opened to a thunderous response from the audience across the country. Its opening episode scored a whopping 7.9 TVT rating, which is said to be the highest-ever rating for a reality show.
Aamir Khan's "Satyamev Jayate 3" is one of the most popular talk shows in India. Its producers have also had huge amounts of promotions for it, but the marketing seems to be lacking when compared to "Bigg Boss 8". Gone on air on 5 October, the third season of the show debuted with a decent response, but its TVT ratings were much lower than that of "Bigg Boss 8". Its opening episode has bagged about 4.9 TVT ratings.
Within a couple of weeks, "Satyamev Jayate 3" landed in seventh place in the TVR ratings chart, pushing "Bigg Boss 8" down to eighth position. "Aamir Khan's social crusade, Satyamev Jayate 3, is garnering a decent 2.4 on the Sunday morning slot," reported BollywoodLife on 18 October.
While TRP ratings of "Satyamev Jayate 3" went up in the following days, "Bigg Boss 8" has failed to retain the same response from the viewers with its TRP ratings dropping considerably.
"Satyamev Jayate maintained consistent ratings and touched 6.7 TVM whereas Salman's show could barely touch 4.4 at the max," said a DNA report.
However, the decline in the TRP ratings of "Bigg Boss 8" clearly indicates the fading interest of the viewers. The makers have already realised the fact and got into action to spice up the show. They have brought in three wild card entrants - Renee Dhyani, Dimpy Mahajan and Nigaar Khan in the last week. It's yet to be seen whether their presence in the house will boast the TRP ratings of the show.
