World smartphone leader, Samsung has officially launched the company's flagship premium Galaxy Tab S series slates at an event in New Delhi, India.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S series slates made their debut at a glitzy event – 'Galaxy Premiere 2014' in New York City on 12 June. Technology pundits heaped praises for its rich display quality and many are calling it Samsung's best tablet series (yet), which is likely to give stiff challenge to arch rival Apple iPad series.
The top-end tablets (10.5 & 8.4) flaunt high-resolution super AMOLED WQXGA (2560x1600p) display housing ominous home button with finger-print sensor and perforated back-cover shell as seen in the company's marquee smartphone Galaxy S5.
Both the Galaxy Tablet S - 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch devices measure just 6.6 mm, which is much slimmer than the Galaxy 5 and even the paper thin fifth generation Apple iPad Air (7.5 mm) appears thicker compared to the new Samsung tablets.
Both Galaxy Tab S slates pack same internal component sans the screen size and battery specification. They ship with Android v4.4 KitKat OS powered by Exynos 5 Octa (1.9 GHz Quad-core + 1.3 GHz Quad-core) /Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.3 GHz Quad-core CPU (Samsung is most likely sell the Exynos chipset variants in India, just like Galaxy S5, which came with Octa-core processor), 3GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt memory.
Competition:
The company has priced Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and 10.5 - ₹37,800 and ₹44,800 respectively and both devices are expected to hit stores in July second week. They will be competing with high-end tablets - Apple iPad Air, second generation iPad Mini with retina display, Sony Xperia Z Tablet and Samsung's very own NotePro series, Galaxy Note10.1 (2014 edition), Galaxy Note 800 and Galaxy Tab 4 series (8.0 & 10.1).
